07/08/06-07/17/06 - 9 Day Bike Riding Road Trip I recently went on a biking/filming road trip to see some people around the Toronto area that I know. While I didn't intend to document the whole trip; I took some photos when the opportunity arose.
The first day of the trip featured Evan & I riding the Milton park. After that, some of Evan's friends came over and we went to some bar near his house. Evan gave the bouncer his I.D. but got denied because the bouncer said he knew the real Evan Ellison...right. Anyway, we said fuck that place, and headed over to some bar called Hot Rod's, where a 6 white person reggae band was playing...guess you gotta go to Milton for that... ___________
Evan gets pretty riled up when he's drunk and was putting his friend Carmen in a headlock. Carmen couldn't do much though, he hit the punching machine and got a score of 299; while I head-butted it and got 475. ___________ Kevin Jones was in full effect and calling me a baller for double-fisting Heineken's...until he found out that all the beers at the bar cost the same amount. ___________ I got Evan & his girl, Sue to do the whole..."there's a goofy person(s) over there, lets get a picture of them in the background" trick & I didn't even get a picture of the people line dancing... On a related
note; I noticed that Sue was drinking 50 in this picture...awesome.
Drinking Labatt 50, insisting on getting me drinks, turning off Dirty Dancing to
watch the new Shook video...sounds like Evan has a good one to me...
Most of the time spent at Hot Rod's was on this "boxing champion" machine... ___________
...and I think this was the high score for the night... ___________
On the way to the
bar, on the way home & everywhere in between; everyone fully enjoyed the size of
the van... and once Aqua's Barbie Girl came on; the wrestling was on... While I'm not trying to document the trip; honorable mention goes to the fact that we went to this girl's house with a pool afterwards. Well, her pool featured a pool house and I was dying to jump off of it into the pool...but the pool house was too high and I was too drunk...I tried to get up, but fell backwards; injuring my neck, shoulder & back. It still hurts to
this day, and I still wish I would have just went in the pool as Evan
suggested...falling off that pool house resulted in me not riding the rest of
the trip and since. (07/25)
Sunday featured us going to Hamilton and Evan joining me on the disabled list. So Monday I headed to Dylan's in Kitchener and stopped in Washington....Ontario. Yea, that was a useless picture/caption. ___________
The four days at Dylan's featured a lot of Grand Theft Auto and drinking because of my shoulder/back (I could barely get up). Tuesday had us going to Ethell's for $0.75 tacos and we met Dylan's roommate's girlfriend there. We learned plenty about stripping and how she gets busy with her boyfriend's friends while her boyfriend watches...while I've heard of this, I never encountered it before. Just thought it was interesting. ___________ On Friday, Dylan & I left to hang out with Bart for the weekend in Barrie. We had time to kill, so we stopped in Toronto and walked around. Can you spot the
Chinatown misspelling?
Mmmm...squid &
chicken.
This van was
example enough for me to know not to leave my van overnight in T-dot. After walking Chinatown in the stench & the heat for a couple hours, we headed back to the highway & gridlock. At least this
Sunfire made up for the wasted time.
We got to Barrie sort of late on Friday and didn't ride too much. Dylan got drunk real quick and ended up in the backyard. We both agreed that it was probably the drink mixing with the extra strength Robaxacet that he forget about. Bart & I figured he'd be fine and decided to head for the bars downtown. ___________
When we got to the bar we noticed 2 things: biking was on T.V. and the walk + the whiskey on the way made us far more drunk than when we left. We drank one pint and headed off. ___________
After a 1/2 hour walk in flip-flops back...we found Dylan in pretty much the same position. ___________
With everyone being hung-over; we spent Saturday afternoon at Wasaga Beach. I would say the highlight would be seeing this one women sun tanning topless; but she only had like A-Cups...we were more impressed with other women wearing tops. After we had enough Wasaga Beach sun; we headed to Penetanguishene after some Orillia kids told us to go there because it had the best street around. Well, we didn't find anything on street, but we found the park and it at least salvaged the drive to Penetang. And now we know
another (better) park that's on the lake. Dylan jumped a
gap at the Penetang park and celebrated with some cold ones & an ice cream by
the lake.
Driving
through some small town (no need to mention), we found these enormous handrails.
I would have loved to session them; but I could barely grind a foot-high ledge.
After the Penetanguishene park, we took it easy, had some Boston Pizza and packed it in for the night; looking forward to a Sunday where we'd drive to Toronto and ride Cummer park along the way. With all our
excitement culminating with Cummer in mind, it definitely wasn't as good as I
remembered it. Actually, this used to be my favorite park...and now it's
not even close.
While in Toronto
we stopped to see if Monaghan was home; but we only found his rainbow-decal van
parked outside his house in the gay district...
While driving down the road, we ended up in the gay district somehow and we're yelling "look at that guy,"...all until we saw this guy. I'm fine with
people being homosexual and all, but you don't really need to wear a chain-link
leather contraption to state your preference...after all, I don't go downtown
with crotchless boxers that say "Female oral here." Dylan finished the trip off nicely by severely rolling his ankle on this handrail due to a dip at the start of the stairs. Actually, I guess
the nice end of the trip was waiting 5 hours with Dylan, just to get x-rays and
a Plexiglas cast. Navi (click above to return to the main page) |
