SCOTT'S

METAL: A HEADBANGER'S
JOURNEY
Released on DVD: May
23rd/2006
Remember Metal? When
album cover art meant something?...hmmm...I suppose most of you
don't...The recent Sam Roberts CD artwork for CHEMICAL CITY harks back
to the days when album cover art was a glorious part of a new record
I'd shell my hard earned paper route money for.
Listening alone in my
room through my coily-corded FULL- size headphones that were larger
than an airport landing strip attendants head gear...I blared the
battle chants of " I Wanna Rock " or " Cum on feel the Noise " to help
pass the time when I should have been doing my homework or studying
for an important life altering test on The Incas or The
Mayans.
Yep...In between
fighting acne & " pulling the goalie " I often cranked the likes of
QUIET RIOT or Twisted Sister or RUSH with shear delight. In fact, The
first album I EVER owned was Rush's FLY BY NIGHT I believe.
Who can explain the
spandex-clad allure Metal provides for so many teen adolescent
males???
Well...The Canadian
made documentary film METAL: A HEADBANGER'S JOURNEY via interviews &
concert footage gives it a shot. So if you've ever taken a liking to
this genre of music or get a giggle out of it's outlandishness I think
you'll enjoy this movie & relate to it's subject. Rock On.
FLASHBACK FLICK
This is Spinal Tap
Released in 1984
" This one goes to
eleven " or " The album can be no more black" are quotes I'll always
cherish from This is SPINAL TAP. Before there was Waiting for
Guffman/Best in Show/& A Mighty Wind the core writers of these movies
& Meathead (Rob Reiner) collaborated on this now infamous cult classic
which pokes fun at the world of Heavy Metal with satirical charm.
Paul Shaeffer & Billy
Crystal have cameos.
